At-fault Accident without a Ticket

By August 6, 2013

I didn't get a ticket, so why am I being charged for an at-fault accident by my insurance company?

Tickets and at-fault accidents do not always go hand in hand. Single car accidents are almost always considered at-fault by insurance companies even if the officer did let you go without a ticket. It is important to understand someone is at-fault in every car accident and if your vehicle is the only one involved that leaves only one possible responsible party, you.

Don't get me wrong, anytime a police officer doesn't ticket you it is a good thing. The state collects the money for a ticket, and the insurance company surcharges for the at-fault accident. An understanding police officer can allow you to by-pass paying the state which saves you money, but file a claim after a single car accident and you will be charged an at-fault accident.
